Subdividing property can be a confusing and time-consuming process.  Clermont County Public Health’s involvement in a proposed subdivision is determined by the  Clermont County Department of Community and Economic Development. They are the first agency you should contact in any subdivision proposal. 

Based on the characteristics of the subdivision, the Department of Community Planning and Development will advise the applicant as to the proper procedure for application and what specific county and or township agencies are involved. 

Public Health only reviews residential lot splits into unsewered areas.  The purpose of this review is to ensure that each newly created parcel will accommodate adequate wastewater treatment. The benefits of this review are substantial:

• Reduced risk of disease transmission resulting from the discharge of inadequately treated sewage.
• Reduced risk of purchasing a lot that cannot be developed because it will not accommodate on-site wastewater treatment.
• Preservation of the county water supply.
