What is Harm Reduction?

In a broad sense, harm reduction aims to reduce health and safety issues related to drug use, car accidents, smoking, and other issues facing our community. Specifically, in the opioid epidemic, harm reduction is establishing syringe service programs, naloxone distribution programs, and fentanyl test strip distribution. Harm reduction approaches like these across the world continue to reduce morbidity and mortality rates related to dangerous opioid use.
