The Ohio Buckles Buckeyes program provides child safety and booster seats to eligible low-income families throughout Ohio. Clermont County residents who are eligible can receive a free car seat through Clermont County Public Health.
To be eligible for the Ohio Buckles Buckeyes program, you must:
- Meet income eligibility guidelines*
- Be a Clermont County resident
- Be pregnant – or – be the legal guardian of a child between 5 and 65 pounds for a convertible car seat or between 40 and 100 pounds for a booster seat.
- Attend an installation training appointment (45-60 minutes long) and complete paperwork.

If you meet all of the above requirements, follow this checklist for receiving your free car seat.
- Call 513-735-8400 and ask for the Ohio Buckles Buckeyes car seat program.
- Leave your name and phone number for a return call to schedule an appointment.
- Receive a return phone call to schedule your appointment.
- Attend the educational session (approximately 60 minutes) with your child* and vehicle for proper installation. Expecting families may receive their car seat before the birth of their child.
- Bring proof of income, owner’s manual for the vehicle (if available), proof of guardianship (if applicable), and proof of residency.
- Attend training at Clermont County Public Health’s Nursing Division – 2400 Clermont Center Drive, Suite 200, Batavia, OH 45103
Ohio Buckles Buckeyes is sponsored by the Ohio Department of Health and is coordinated by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Funding for the program comes from child restraint fines through the Child Highway Safety Fund and from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office at the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
