Contractors that typically perform this type of work include plumbing contractors, excavation contractors, and sewer contractors. Determine whether the contractor will obtain necessary permits or if the homeowner will be responsible.

- If installation work involves work in the road or right of way an additional permit is needed from the township (if home is on township road) or the County Engineer (if home is on County road) or from the Ohio Department of Transportation (if home is on a State Route)
- Contractor performs work. Septic tank needs to be pumped, collapsed and filled.
- Contractor calls for inspections. Inspector needs access to inside and outside of the home at the time of inspection.
