Clermont County Public Health offers food safety training classes that are designed to educate and train food handlers on safe food handling practices to preventing foodborne illness. CCPH offers two levels of training.
Level One Certification in Food Protection/Person-in-Charge (PIC) training: This is 3 hours basic food handler training that is applicable to a person-in-charge at a food establishment. Person-in-charge means an individual present at a food establishment who is responsible for the operation at the time of inspection. Important: All food service operations and retail food establishments, that opened after March 1, 2010, must have at least one person per shift that has attended the level one PIC training or equivalent.
Level Two Certification in Food Protection/ServSafe Manager Training: This is a 16-hour detailed food safety training that is applicable to food establishment employees that have supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control food preparation. Important: Effective March 1, 2017, all risk class III and IV food establishment should have at least one individual that holds an Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Level Two Certification in Food Protection. To meet the requirement, one should attend the Level 2 training that is offered by an ODH approved provider and complete the exam session with an ODH approved proctor. ServSafe Exam Only Session: This session is appropriate for those who have taken ServSafe online or need to retake the test in order to complete their Level 2 Certification in Food Protection. Click here for 2020 exam only dates.
